Final chance for voters without valid ID to apply for their Voter Authority Certificate ahead of the 4 May local elections

Residents in Cotswold District are required to show photographic identification to vote in person at this year’s local elections on May 4th, according to a new UK Government Elections Act. Accepted forms of identification include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport, a UK, EEA or Commonwealth photo driver’s licence, and some concessionary travel passes, among others.

Residents without valid ID must apply for a Voter Authority Certificate by 5 pm on April 25th. The certificate will identify individuals who vote at a polling station.

Applicants without any approved ID types may apply for free identification online or by completing a paper form available from the council.
